Village and COVID-19

While the actual number of confirmed cases of coronavirus remains low in Illinois (32 at the time of writing), we want to be prepared for the possibility of an increase of confirmed cases in our community. As such, please review the following information.

Preventative Measures

As with any widespread illness, we should be smart. This of course starts with each of us individually. Pursue good hand-washing habits, make sure you cough or sneeze into your elbow, and keep your own frequently touched surfaces clean. And of course, if you are sick, stay home!

If you haven't reviewed information regarding symptoms, and when to call a doctor, you can review them at the CDC website (link).

If you are more susceptible to illness or have complicating health factors, consider limiting your exposure to large groups.

Know that while Lesley Galante always keeps our building sparkling clean, she is aggressively sanitizing door handles, tabletops, light switches, etc., along with disinfecting nursery toys and high-touch surfaces, such as pews.

Additionally, we have hand sanitizer available in the foyer for your use before or after services.

Are We Cancelling Sunday Services?

Due to the relatively low number of confirmed cases in our area, we are not currently cancelling any activities, including our children's programs. However, we are monitoring recommendations from state and local agencies and may cancel activities if the need requires.

As an additional preventative measure, we will be conducting our contribution time differently this week. To help reduce contact, rather than passing the basket, we will place our baskets by the main doors at the end of the service. If you were planning on giving, please drop your contribution on your way out.

If you feel uncomfortable joining us for worship on Sunday morning, we would love to hear from you to know you're OK and electing to stay home.

We're Here to Help

We recognize that the next few weeks may result in significant disruption of work and school schedules.

If you need assistance, please don't hesitate to let the deacons or pastors know so we can support you.

Faith and Wisdom, Not Fear

A lot of people are concerned, anxious or afraid. This is understandable. But the God we gather to worship is the same God who is with us when we go out into the big open world. He loves you deeply and holds you fast, Christian. So let us be wise and discerning. But not fearful. Let's trust Him and be bold as lions.

We will keep you updated through this email channel, and social media. You can reach us at 630-851-4120 weekdays from 9 am - 1 pm. You can also call Pastor Bob or Pastor Brian any time.
